Mrs. Sara Mitchell

My name is Sara Mitchell and I am a Covington-Douglas graduate. I was very happy to return to my hometown after several years of being away. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma, although I attended Oklahoma State University for three years prior to that. I’m a Cowboy at heart!

After graduation I worked for the Department of Human Services as a Child Welfare Specialist. While I was there I realized I could make a bigger difference in children’s lives if I was in the classroom with them on a daily basis. I began the process at that time to become a teacher. I am beginning my fifth year working at Covington-Douglas and this is my third year as the first grade teacher. I love teaching and am truly blessed to have a job that I am excited about and love going to everyday!

Every child deserves a teacher who provides a classroom where they are able to succeed. It is my goal for them to love school and feel safe. Together we can do anything! I am trained in Literacy First and Reading with TLC. Both are programs aimed to significantly improve the reading achievement of students. I enjoy attending professional development, love to read about ways to improve the classroom and student success, and collaborating with other teachers.
